Where to Stay in Florence (on any budget)
First time in Florence? I get it—this city is packed with history, art, and food, and where you stay can completely shape your experience. Generally, you want to be near the historical center (think Duomo, Santa Maria Novella, or Oltrarno for a quieter, artsy vibe). Here’s where I’d stay at each price level. And yes, all of these places have air conditioning—because trust me, Florence gets hot.

Oh, also: In this guide, I’m sticking to hostels and hotels—and here’s why. AirBNB-style rentals are driving up housing costs, forcing locals out of their neighborhoods, and hollowing out Italian cities. This is especially the case in Florence.
If we tourists want to experience local culture, let’s keep it so the locals can afford to live in their own town. Hotels and hostels can help minimize the damage, letting us enjoy our travels without contributing to the housing crisis. Plus, it’s just easier—no awkward meetups with a host to grab keys or juggling arrival times. A front desk is criminally underrated.
Note: Prices and amenities change, so check the links for current rates and details. If you find something you like, book it—good places in Rome don’t stay available for long.
